Welcome to this week’s edition of 7 Quick Takes Friday, er… Saturday. Because sometimes Fridays just don’t work out and/or I’m not 100% sure what to post in a timely fashion – and because there’s grace. (And an extended deadline on the link-up. 😉 Thanks, Kelly!)
True story: instead of writing my 7QTs yesterday, I went out for dinner and a movie with my friend, Kim. (I know, I know – where are my priorities? Lol.) We saw Old Fashioned, and you guys – I cannot recommend this movie enough! It is sweet and sentimental (without being sappy). It’s also real, and honest, and funny (and I mean seriously, laugh out loud funny). The soundtrack is fantastic, the writing is great; I’m not kidding, I turned to Kim at the end of the movie, and the first thing I said was, “We just saw a good Christian movie!” That doesn’t happen often enough; there are so many bad Christian movies out there – but I’m telling you, this one is worth the drive to see in a theatre. You don’t want to miss it!
Thanks so much to those of you who have been following along with my current series on singleness and the church and sharing/tweeting it up; I really appreciate your support in my quest to help the church tell a better story! There are a few more posts coming up next week, so stay tuned!
In case you missed it when I shared these on Facebook this week, I’ve come across three other posts this week that are on-topic with this singleness and the church theme that are definitely worth your time:
What Not To Say If You’re Single – by Arleen Spenceley at the Chastity Project
5 Tips On Surviving Valentine’s Day If You’re Single – by Brad Gross at Chasing The Sunrise
I’m The Bomb: A Reflection On Dating – by Cara Strickland at The Junia Project
Happy reading!
I’m so excited about the next series coming up here at Simple Felicity. Beginning this coming Wednesday, my friend Arman and I are going to co-host a weekly link-up called Adventures in Lent. You can find more details here, but our heart behind hosting the link-up is this:
We think creating a space where we can share our stories about what we’ve given up and why, and what we’re learning along the way thru that spiritual discipline on our way to Easter will be a lot of fun, and provide an opportunity to learn from each other in a unique way. I hope you’ll join us! The link-up will happen every Wednesday, but if Wednesdays aren’t ideal for you, you’ll be able to add your link/comments anytime. 🙂
Looking for some creative ideas for engaging more fully in Lent this year? There were some great suggestions in this article: Seven Tips For Creating Sacred Space For Lent. I’m looking forward to reclaiming my kitchen table as a place to meet with God. (It’s become much more of an office space than any dining table should be).
Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! Whatever your relationship status is/isn’t – I hope you get to spend time with someone you love today. 🙂
Have a great weekend, everyone!
