hesitant leadership

hesitant leadership

Mentoring has always been a weighty concept to me; it seems and sounds so important, the practice of guiding and molding a person to help them reach their full potential. Leadership in general carries a lot of the same connotations in my mind. So what do you do when you don’t feel/think/act or believe you…

7 Quick Takes Friday (vol. 32): feminism, Hobbits, and futuristic societies

7 Quick Takes Friday (vol. 32): feminism, Hobbits, and futuristic societies

— 1 — Happy Independence Day!   Thanks to an article in the UK edition of the International Business Times, I have learned a few things that I probably learned in school and then completely forgot: for example, the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776 – but Great Britain didn’t actually get it…

7 Quick Takes Friday (vol. 27): straight paths, YA fiction and a little bit more on Lent

— 1 — I’m really sorry if you’re still waiting for that “one last post” about singleness and the church.  I really do plan to write it…  There’s just been things like really good novels, amazing weekends off, and a touch of what I think might have been food poisoning.  I’ll get to it.  I will….

7 Quick Takes Friday (vol.18): ball pits, coffee, and gender equality

  — 1 — Wow.  What a crazy lot of great conversation has happened over the past week ever since Rachel Held Evans made a simple observation on Twitter about the imbalance between the number of male and female speakers at a recent online leadership conference called the Nines.  (You can see the speaker line-up…

Meet Happy
Simple Felicity is, at its heart, a blog based on the unshakeable belief that happiness really isn't all that complicated. It's often found in the simplest of things: good food, good books, and good company. So those are the things I write about, along with a few other things that really matter to me, including faith and feminism. A bit about me: My name is Happy. I have an amazing talent for misplacing my keys, a deep appreciation for whomever looked at the coffee bean and thought, "Hey, I wonder what would happen if I roasted this?", and road trips to Michigan are pretty much my favorite.
