seven things on a Saturday, vol. 4

seven things on a Saturday, vol. 4

Hello, and happy Saturday, friends!  It’s been a busy few months, and while I have been writing periodically, nothing has felt quite finished enough to post for awhile – hence the dust that’s been collecting around here.  But it’s a beautiful fall day today; the windows are open, the breeze is perfect, and a few…

making space for grace

making space for grace

I had the incredible privilege recently of hearing Rob Bell and Peter Rollins speak during their Brooklyn stop on their Holy Shift tour. Both of these men have been instrumental in shaping my faith and praxis, so the chance to see them both in person was really exciting. The evening did not disappoint; it was a…

shame, guilt, love, and evangelism

shame, guilt, love, and evangelism

A few weeks ago, a woman got onto the subway at the stop after mine, and after awhile, she began to preach.  At first, I thought she might have been the slightest bit crazy, because she started by quoting random lyrics to old-school church songs (but saying them, not singing them), and it’s not unusual in…

Seven Stories That Have Shaped My Life: #6 – the one about trust and vulnerability

Seven Stories That Have Shaped My Life: #6 – the one about trust and vulnerability

Meet Happy
Simple Felicity is, at its heart, a blog based on the unshakeable belief that happiness really isn't all that complicated. It's often found in the simplest of things: good food, good books, and good company. So those are the things I write about, along with a few other things that really matter to me, including faith and feminism. A bit about me: My name is Happy. I have an amazing talent for misplacing my keys, a deep appreciation for whomever looked at the coffee bean and thought, "Hey, I wonder what would happen if I roasted this?", and road trips to Michigan are pretty much my favorite.
