Time to decompress.  If you’re new to Simple Felicity and wondering what “7 Quick Takes” are – they’re just 7 quick notes, generally either about something happening in my world, or things that I’m thinking about, that aren’t necessarily full-length-post worthy.  They’re also super-fun because 7 Quick Takes is hosted by Jennifer Fulweiler at Conversion Diary, so a bunch of us share ours in the link list at the end of her weekly post.  It’s a great way to find other blogs that might interest you.  So grab a cup of coffee and maybe some chocolate, and when you’re finished reading mine, head on over to Conversion Diary and check out some of the other 7 Quick Takes posts.

Wow.  What a week.  Thank you, thank you, thank you both for reading and sharing posts from the series I’ve been writing on singleness and the church.  I’ve so appreciated the private messages and emails some of you have sent about them.  I’ll do my best to address as many of the issues and questions as I can as the series continues over the next few weeks.  Taking a bit of a break from it today (in favor of 7QTs) but will be back tomorrow.  Sneak peek: we’re going to talk about waiting.  And probably Superman.

I had occasion this morning (thank you, Jen) to google “shoes made of bacon.”  It turns out the shoes just look bacon, but there is a lot of really weird stuff made out of fake bacon.  Apparently at one point you could get anything from bacon sneakers to bacon heels, but all I could dig up was 50 pairs of bacon flip-flops on zazzle.com.  These are my favorites.

While I was thinking about how to open this series on singleness last weekend (read: procrastinating), I watched a handful of YouTube videos and learned some very useful skills.  For instance, how to open a bottle of champagne with a sword:

It seems you can also use sabers and/or kitchen knives, but it just sounds so much cooler to say you know how to open champagne with a sword…

I also learned how to open a bottle of wine with a shoe:

He makes it looks so easy…  but it seems to me like this could go seriously wrong, so I’m not sure I will try it.

I still have two spaces open in my writing calendar for the month, and would love to fill them with guest posts.  If you’ve been enjoying this series on singleness and the church and would like to add your perspective, I’d love to talk with you about that.  Please let me know!

I just found an entire Facebook page devoted to coffee quotes.  You’re welcome.

Hello! If you are still looking for a singleness writer, I’d be very interested! What a great idea for a series! 🙂 I tried contacting you via your contact link, but for some reason it didn’t work. I can be contacted at [email protected], if you need to get in touch with me! Thanks! 🙂

Meet Happy
Simple Felicity is, at its heart, a blog based on the unshakeable belief that happiness really isn't all that complicated. It's often found in the simplest of things: good food, good books, and good company. So those are the things I write about, along with a few other things that really matter to me, including faith and feminism. A bit about me: My name is Happy. I have an amazing talent for misplacing my keys, a deep appreciation for whomever looked at the coffee bean and thought, "Hey, I wonder what would happen if I roasted this?", and road trips to Michigan are pretty much my favorite.
